It isn't officially spring but around most parts of the country it went from fall to spring. Some of the neighbors yards are already turning green and with the mild temps we have been having it wound not surprise me if spring started within the next couple of weeks. Hopefully this means a long summer so that my tan can officially begin in early May. Must have a wonderful glow for my birthday weekend trip! Enough about the weather...

With it only 19 days into 2012 I am very proud to tell you that I have already lost 18.5lbs. I'm not looking for a specific weight loss but once I get to a place that I'm happy with my body I will continue to keep it looking that way. I haven't been to the gym once, my secret is something I never though I would do. I'm keeping track of my calories (counting) and I guess you could also call it portion control. I have an app on my phone that I scar the bar code of what I'm eating and It adds my calories together and each Monday I weigh and enter in my weight. It is a lot easier than I thought it would be and honestly I feel alot healthier. I'm already thinking of what new bathing suits I can wear in summer. Very excited and after all, shouldn't I be.

This year might just be my best one yet. I'm getting plugged back into my church and my relationship with God is becoming way more than it ever has before. I'm reading a book right now called "One In A Million". GO BUY IT, BORROW IT FROM A FRIEND! It will completely change your heart and mind about everything. It came along at a perfect time in my spiritual life and has totally changed my perspective about so many things.

New Year, New You

Most people spend these last few December days thinking of different things they can announce as resolutions. Most stick with them for a few day tops, others simply forget and never start. I can admit to doing all of those things, never really committing. I have been thinking today of resolutions that will excite me and make me want to see it through. I've been busy so I haven't been updating as much as I would have liked to. Especially since this is my favorite time of year to indulge on decor, photography and browsing for great Holiday ideas. Unfortunately this year I didn't get to go home, my family is flying to California tomorrow for a week full of sunshine and glimpses of "The Beautiful People" (what my uncle calls celebrity's). I however will not be going with them. Not to worry though, I am already making plans for March and May so I will get plenty of jet-setting in for 2012. I better get back...

Currently in "limbo". Just chilling living life not really living for God but not sinning except for the fact that at any random moment I may start cursing like a sailor. I'm not quite sure how I got to this point, I'm guessing it was a little fox, they tend to spoil the vine. I don't really know if there was any fruit on the vines, maybe it was just a tangled mess of ivy or weeds.

So here I am at the end of November saying goodbye to another roommate of mine. This time Heather is jumping off the ship and has decided to live on her own again. Not that I blame her, If I could afford it I would have moved out a long time ago. I love being a hermit, it's my comfort place. A clean hermit, I will not be on the next season of hoarders; berried alive.

Katie will be living with us now. I do like Katie, she is one of the few people that I don't want to punch in the face. I'm hoping the transition will go well, transitions are always a little weird but I will say that I'm excited. I haven't been excited about anything in a while. Probably since my REAL WORLD audition. Yes, that Real World. The one that is on that one channel that used to only be music, good music. Now it is held together with make shift reality shows about teen moms, guidos, and being made. It was my 2nd one and sad to say that I didn't get selected either time.

So now I'm just thinking of who to call to do something fun. I scroll though my phone and realize that It is mostly filled with old high school friends or current friends that haven't texted me in months. I'm tired of being the initiator! So after 2 months I have realized who really gives a shit and who is friends because It's convenient. My favorite are the people that call because they need something. Now I don't even answer the phone when "they" call. Maybe they will get the hint.

I'm supposed to be helping Heather move tonight, I don't really want to but I want to be supportive especially since I know that our friendship will completely change after tonight. Hopefully I will have a good report for tomorrow. Might start this as a daily thing. I'm sure you all think this is all worthless bull shit but if I think of it that way, it makes me smile.

So one month later.

Good news, I have sold two of my paintings and I have 2 appointments for 3 others! I am so happy to have finally marked artist off of my list.

So now for a little venting and a catch up with me. I have been in a transition for the past couple of weeks, I needed it so much. I guess you could say that I took a few weeks to step back and really look at everything in my life. It was hard, but I'm pretty sure that I ended with what I was looking for or missing previously.

Part of me is still wishing for the "move back home" thing to happen but I still haven't gotten the okay, so until then I am patiently waiting... not very patiently. One thing I am excited about is that the fall / winter part of the year is my favorite. So from now until March you will see me checking the weather channel for snow, almost daily.

Enough rambling I will let you get back to you're blog viewing.

PUMPKIN COOKIES WITH CARMEL FROSTING

Cookies

1 cup butter, softened

1/2 cup white sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup canned pumpkin

1 egg

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 tablespoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon cloves

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

1/2 teaspoon ginger

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 cups all-purpose flour

Frosting

3 tablespoons butter

1/4 cup heavy cream

1 cup confectioners' sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

Pinch of salt

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugars. Add eggs and vanilla and mix well. Stir in pumpkin. In a medium bowl, sift together the baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, ginger, salt and flour. Add to pumpkin mixture and mix well. Drop by heaping tablespoons onto a lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes.

To make frosting: In a medium saucepan, combine butter, cream, and brown sugar over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until mixture just begins to boil; remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Cool then stir in confectioner's sugar. Spread frosting over cooled cookies.

The frosting is the star of these cookies, and it's a nice change from the cream cheese frosting that often accompanies pumpkin desserts (I love that version too, though). Really, they're more like little pumpkin cakes. They're so moist, I've left them out on the counter overnight and they were still fantastic the next day. These don't flatten much during baking, and the dough is a bit sticky to flatten it before baking. I flatten mine slightly with the bottom of a glass just as they come out of the oven. Once they're frosting, no one knows! This recipe makes about 2 dozen cookies.
